Caliban is the son of Sycorax, a witch in Prospero's eyes. Sycorax inhabited the island for years before giving birth to Caliban. Sycorax then passed away and Caliban believes the island is his by birthright. Prospero was once an important man in a large city but his brother betrayed him and banished him to this island. Prospero, arrived on the island with his daughter and took it as his own. Therefore, it was stolen from Caliban. However it is rightfully Calibans.

∙ 7y agoModern morality says that all the property in the world ought to belong to the descendants of the people who first settled it. Anyone at all who came later and pushed the original settlers or their descendants out must pay damages to the original settlers they have wronged, and their descendants must continue to pay these damages until the end of time. By this moral standard, the people entitled to own the island are the descendants of the original settlers i.e. Sycorax, and that means that the island should belong to Caliban.
