There are several factors that contribute to the underrepresentation of women in parliament. These include gender stereotypes, cultural norms, social expectations, historical power imbalances, and barriers to women's political participation such as lack of access to resources, education, networks, and support systems. Efforts such as affirmative action, gender quotas, and initiatives to promote women's political leadership can help address this imbalance and increase women's representation in parliament.
