Why was Harriet Tubman important?

Harriet Tubman was a born slave and helped escape many people to freedom, over 300, and was to be born around 1820.

Harriet Tubman was so important because she was the most well known conductor of the Underground Railroad. During the Civil war, she helped by becoming a nurse, scout, soldier, and spy. After the war, she continued working for what she believed in by becoming a feminist and fighting for women's suffrage rights.

Because she helped free black slaves from the whites, and so many blacks were thankful to her. Also, it was wrong for the whites to 'own' blacks, which is why they created laws and rights for that kind of thing.
