D-Day is thought to mean an amphibious landing (which is not the case). There were many amphibious landings in the Pacific Theater as each island had to be taken. Sometimes there were multiple landings for one island or chain of islands. This is why the Marines played was mainly used in the Pacific and not in the European theaters.

What is a military column?

A line of marching men in single file "Can" be called a column. But to be more accurate, two or more single file lines of men marching side by side WOULD be a column of men. The command would be, "... column of two's...March!" Said another way: If there is a line of people lined up to see a movie at the theater and it's only one line, that normally wouldn't be called a column. But if the Theater manager came out and said to the people waiting in line, "Ok folks, if you could, please form TWO lines starting here (pointing), that way we'll get you in the theater alot quicker..." That theater supervisor just created a column of people.

Who were the two people from Texas that held high government or military positions during world war 2?

Admiral Chester W. Nimitz was commander of the US Pacific Fleet through the war, and also commander of the Central Pacific Theater of Operations. Nimitz was from Fredericksburg, Texas, and said he had been motivated in part to join the Navy by a hotel in his hometown, the front of which had been made to resemble a Mississippi steamboat jutting out into the street, there in the middle of dry, dusty Texas. General Dwight D. "Ike" Eisenhower was Supreme Commander Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF), in command of all American, British and British Commonwealth troops in western Europe (and US president after the war). Eisenhower was born in Denison, Texas in 1890, but his family moved to Kansas when he was two.

What did William shakespeare mean when he said that theater was a true reflection of life?

Actually, Shakespeare never said the theater was a true reflection of life. The quote is "All the world's a stage / And all the men and women merely players. / They have their exits and their entrances / And one man in his time plays many parts." That said, though Shakespeare is comparing theater to life, the comparison works both ways. He is using the theater as a way to break life down into its simplest phases, assuming that what is on the stage is, in effect, a true reflection of life.
