What do you mean working with each other?
802.11g is the wireless protocol, which you can secure with WAP or WEP encryption and it would be called a secured wireless network. Also, it would be called a WLAN for wireless local area network.
They're the same thing.

Anti virus software has nothing to do with your wireless router (unless one or more of the system files responsible for network communications was infected). The only thing which can block network activity is firewall. Check your network and firewall settings.

You could provide abit more details. Though if its a wireless network check to make sure your wireless is switched on. Some software takes over and wont allow you to use the in-built windows connection manager. Download network stumbler. See what results you get with that.

Make sure that your firewall does not block connections. Also if you have configured a secured network check the access key, if it does not work, reset the router and configure it again.

You need to make sure that your wireless adapter supports the security. Check if the network requires WPA2, if does and you cannot connect to it, it means your adapter can't work with and the router has to configured to work with first generation of WPA.
