Korea existed as a single entity since the Goryeo dynasty (beginning in 918 C.E.) up until the Korean War (beginning in 1951). Also, North Korea's regime is flawed to the core, and will collapse in a matter of time. After North Korea's fall it is more than likely that the unification of the Korean peninsula will take place (similar to the case of East and West Germany).
