Will being put to sleep while having my wisdom teeth removed be bad?

Being put to sleep is not really much to worry about. I have had it done couple of times for operation's. It simply boils down to the anesthesiologist saying count backwards from ten and the next thing you know you are awake again without a sense of any time having passed. Its nothing to worry about. Believe me its a lot better then being awake while they are gauging around in your mouth.

Not everyone has their wisdom teeth removed. If you do have to have your wisdom teeth removed, find a doctor that knows what they are doing and try to get them all removed at the same time. Most doctors will use laughing gas for sedation. Some doctors will put you fully to sleep to remove the wisdom teeth. Recovery is about three to four days with a soft diet.

Well I am not a doctor or dentist but I had four wisdom teeth removed 5 days ago by an oral surgeon and I was "put to sleep" The process took less than an hour and I was fine. With any anesthesia there can be risk involved. Go to your oral surgeon for a consultation and they can review those with you.

It's really not bad. When you wake up, you're pretty groggy for a while, but you don't remember anything. It's a pretty easy thing to go through. And if it's for wisdom teeth removal, I recommend it. It's greeeeat, mind you when you wake its a bit woozy. You have some mad dreams, though. They put me to sleep to remove my four wisdom teeth, and it wasn't that bad. You don't feel any pain, and that was definitely a plus not to feel it while they're doing it. You may remember some stuff before they put you to sleep, but it won't be really clear. Going to sleep isn't scary or anything. It does feel slightly strange, though, because they stick some kind of tube up your nostrils. They also will do an IV. For me, that was the only thing that hurt before or during the surgery. As for after, I felt a lot of pain, but it was bearable. Seriously, you should consider being put to sleep if you're having your wisdom teeth removed.

Most general dentists do not provide general anesthesia or sedation. You would want to see an oral surgeon for this. It is not unreasonable to want to be put to sleep for wisdom tooth removal, particularly if all four are removed at once. However, understand that anesthesia increases the risk of complications significantly. And it is much more expensive. Having said that, millions of wisdom teeth are removed every year, both with general anesthesia and without, and the vast majority are without problems. General anesthesia can make it a far less emotionally traumatic and far more pleasant. If you are totally freaked out about getting your wisdom teeth out, see an oral surgeon and discuss your options.

im not sure about having you put to sleep but each tooth can be about 1900 for extrction. i had insurance coverage for my 4 extractions but I still had to pay 20% of the whole total which was about 381 per tooth, almost 1600 for all 4. good luck on your removal- it's not a pleasant one!
