It is important to realize that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", meaning that "prettier than you" from one person's viewpoint may be counterbalanced by another person's point of view that you are very pretty to them. There really is no universal standard. Therefore, it is important to let petty and negative statements from other people roll off you, emotionally, like raindrops roll off of Goretex raingear.
