Sounds like the muffler fell off.
bad axle joint or ball joints and turn stops can make popping
it depends where the popping sound is coming from it could be the steering shaft if it sounds under the steering column if not check your suspension inner and outer tie rods idler arm for excessive play
'78 Chevy pickup got mine for me.
Sounds like the temp blend door gears are stripped. It could be caused by something jamming the door from moving. The dash assembly would have to be removed to gain access to the blend door and blend door actuator.
A front popping on the left of a 98 Blazer could be the brakes, steering, or wheel bearing. Check all three to find the cause.
Valves adjusted to tight. Firing order mixed up.
Ford vs. Chevy happened in 2005.
If your vehicle is a chevy, it`s probably a flat lobe on the camshaft (probably number 6 cylinder) If when you accellerate the popping comtinues and gets louder replace the cam and timing chain
The 2001 Chevy Cavalier may need a valve adjustment. Loud valves tend to create a clacking noise which could mimic popcorn popping.
either your timing is off or your valves still need adjustment
Sounds like the fuel filter which is easy to change. The next step would be the fuel pump in the tank. If fuel pressure is low from a clogged filter, the throttle plate will open and not get enough fuel so it would be a very lean condition whci would cause popping and lack of power. This happened to me in a 30 ft RV running a 460 ford engine.
