Head Gasket blown, plus check your water pump.
Could be the water pump went out.
It can. You should leave the engine running while you add water to the radiator. If you add water with the engine turned off, but while the engine is overheated, you might damage the engine or the radiator.
Check Your Waterpump
Most definitely.
Not necessarily. I actually just overheated my air-cooled engine the other day. First, are you sure it is water-cooled? If so then more than likely you will need to replace certain parts in the engine such as piston, piston ring, etc. Or it would be cheaper to just buy a new engine.
intake manifold gasket, head gasket, cracked head, cracked block. was it overheated? was cold water added to hot engine?
Ran out of gas, failed fuel pump, water in the gas. Alternator, crank sensor, cam sensor, computer, coil, broken wiring. No oil in the engine and engine seized, overheated to the point of ruining engine.Ran out of gas, failed fuel pump, water in the gas. Blew a gasket, radiator overheated or rusted out or stuck thermostat top 3.
as long as you have not driven the car very long with the water pump bad and overheated the engine, it is fixable. the engine is a noninterference engine so it is not going to hurt the engine if the belt breaks.
Water in the oil is a sure sign of a blown head gasket. Stop driving this car until you have this repaired or you will do serious engine damage.
During repair and testing it would be wasteful and very expensive to use anti-freeze/coolant. Water is suitable until repair is complete.
Could be many things like a stuck thermostat, blown head gasket, warped heads, bad water pump etc.
