Like any other card, ID, license, you can take it with you when you leave Puerto Rico. The question is whether it is accepted as a valid driver's license if you decide to live in the states. Puerto Rico allows people who come from the states to live on the Island to use their stateside drivers license for a period of 30 days, considered sufficiente time to apply and obtain a local driver's license.
