This is a perfectly normal and expected response.
As the hormone change during early pregnancy a female is likely to have many emotional issues; these issues are could be to do with worrying about body changes, impending fear of motherhood.
As a new father to be all you can do is be there for your girlfriend; be supportive, be there when she needs you, and be prepared to take the back seat when she needs you to.
