It is a good thing that you are good friends with that guy. For me, girls should not be the ones who will ask the guy out. But since you are good friends with him, you can just think of it as going out with him for fun like what friends do. Tell him that you just want to be with him for fun (like an excuse). Ice skating can be a good choice for a good first date if the both of you like it. If you or the guy does not like ice skating, my advice to you is that you should not go ice skating on your date. On a date, you should do the things you both like and not the things that only one of you likes. If you will do the things you both like, the both of you will have fun.
