For a filter to work properly it MUST be on permanently. Turning it on and off will eventually poison your water and kill your fish. The way a filter works is the media/foam/noodles/wool? collects a specific aerobic bacteria which nature forms over time. Once these bacteria are there and doing their job, the filter is "cycled". These bacteria convert the poisonous ammonia that all fish make (by breathing and pooing in their water) into harmless Nitrate, thereby keeping the water liveable. The basic rules for fishkeeping are :- 1 inch of fish needs a minimum of 1 gallon of water. :- Every tank needs a permanently running cycled filter. :- Every fish tank needs at least a 50% water change every week.

What is the use of active power filters?

An active filter is a type of analog electronic filter that uses active components such as an amplifier. Amplifiers included in a filter design can be used to improve the performance and predictability of a filter, while avoiding the need for inductors (which are typically expensive compared to other components). An amplifier prevents the load impedance of the following stage from affecting the characteristics of the filter. An active filter can have complex poles and zeros without using a bulky or expensive inductor.

What is active devices?

An active device amplifies the signal by some value - such as an active filter using an OPAMP. A passive device does not provide any amplification - such as a passive filter network of inductors and capacitors.

Why active filter?

An active filter can provide much sharper band-edge characteristics than a passive one, with the same or smaller number of components, cheaper, and without the through-loss of a passive filter.

What is The damping factor of an active filter?

Can you drag Excel cell info while in filter?

You can drag while a filter is active, but only visible cells will have data put into them. So when the filter is removed, there may be gaps in the set of cells that have data in them. Any cells that were not visible when the filter was active will not have had the data dragged into them.

Why active filters so called even though uses passive resistors?

It has to have resistors but an active filter will alsol have an active device, usually an op-amp, while a passive filter has only passive components and needs no power supply.
