In the worst case nothing (at least non of your software or data). When the disk is replaced you will need to re-install the operating system and at that point (unless you data is on a separate drive or you have backed it up) it will be as though you computer is new form the shop.

If you have a backup then you can restore the data from this once the Operating System is re-installed.

How do you take a hard drive out of a computer?

when you open your computer you will see that their are about 4-5 diffrent colored cables connected in one spot. then their will be a ribbon cable connected to the left of it. On most computers you will see that the hard drive is located by the CD and DVD drive. After you locate it you will unplug them. it will require some force to take them out. Then if you look to the right side of the drive you will see that it is screwed in so you need to unscrew them. check the left side for screws to and then after that your done. How do you get to your hard drive on windows 7?

Plug it in. There are probably two cables, one for power one for data. Windows should recognize it and offer you to format the drive if it is not formatted already. If you mean how to find your hard drive, you would open the area called Computer or click on the Libraries from the taskbar and then look for Computer in the listing on the left pane and expand it. Or you can enable the Computer icon on the desktop and click on it just like "My Computer."

Go to the icon my computer, rt click on it and pick properties, then rt click on local disk C, and pick properties. This shows you what the computer sees as actual usage. If you have a 150 gig hard drive, it will not show 150, only what is usable. It shows what is being used and what storage is left.

Where can you find the hard-drive size on a computer?

Double click on the "My Computer" button (It says "Computer" if using Windows Vista or Windows 7) . Look for the "Local Disk". If more than one Local disk appears, the Hard Drive is partitioned. It should be the sum of all the partitions. For Macintosh users, just go to the "System Profile" option, by clicking the apple on the upper left.

When you plug in the Ethernet cable your HDD starts clicking and the computer crashes you need help please?

A clicking sound on a HDD is always a bad sign. Connecting an ethernet cable should not make any difference to the hard drive. In my opinion you should back up all your data and get a new hard drive. The days left in your hard drive are counted!
