I don't think so. A guy named Andrew Strong recorded Mustang Sally in '91 on a soundtrack called "The Commitments" and he sounds a lot like Joe Cocker, but that's the closest I've heard.

There are many MP3s that were mislabeled. The previous answer said that it was in "Creedence Collection Vol 2" which was not an actual album. It was the equivalent to an MP3 "mix tape." Other notable songs on this "Creedence mix tape" included "Old Time Rock -n- Roll" which was actually Bob Seger and "American Woman" which was actually the Guess Who.

The lead singer of the former band Creedence Clearwater Revival, John Fogerty *vocals/lead guitar), plays in concerts with his brother, Tom Fogerty (bass), but the band never reunited completely. The other two members don't involve themselves in concerts, although I think I've seen the band's former drummer play with the Fogerty brothers in a video of a concert on YouTube. (Maybe someone else can revise a better answer than I can...?)

Tom Fogerty died from complications of AIDS in 1990. He became infected with HIV from a blood transfusion. As of January 2011, the remaining members of the band -- John Fogerty, Stu Cook and Doug Clifford -- are all doing well.

According to a magazine article I read many years ago, there were contractual difficulties for John Fogerty. Apparently there was no interest in song writing from other band members, so he assumed the responsibility for song writing duties which were not reflected in a fair share of the royalties. Song writing credits on "Mardi Gras" tend to support this when I suppose the end had become inevitable. I cannot recall the magazine or the author and I stand to be corrected.

Stu Cook was a founding member of the band. He, John Fogerty and Doug Clifford attended the same high school and sang together as back-up to John's older brother Tom at various live gigs and in the recording studio.
