You play Flute sideways, it has no reed, not nearly as many keys as a Clarinet, and it's a different color. A clarinet you play it with the bell facing down and with your chin up, so many different keys, has a reed, and it's a different color.

Flutes - It is open at both ends hence called open pipe.

clarinets - It is open at only outer end and closed by mouth at other end hence called closed pipe.

The flute is a nearly cylindrical instrument which is open to the outside air at both ends. The player leaves the embouchure hole open to the air, and blows across it

The clarinet (right) is a roughly cylindrical instrument which is open to the outside air at the bell, but closed by the mouthpiece, reed and the player's mouth at the other end
