Some car will keep headlights for some time after the engine was stopped. I guess it was done so you can find the door to your house. If the lights do not go off at all, it means that the daytime running relay is not working and most likely has to be replaced. Read More
Disconnecting a working light may make your car defectable under law. "All lights fitted to a vehicle must be working". So why would you want to disconnect the DRL's from a new vehicle??? == Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) are bright, white, forward-facing lights that improve the forward conspicuousness of vehicles in the daytime. They are usually activated automatically when the engine is running. NRMA Motoring & Services commissioned a study of DRLs in 2003 which… Read More

Dodge Rams are not equipped with Daytime running lights.. Although what you can do is turn on the parking lights and select just your fog lights (if equipped) otherwise to have running lights you will need to turn on your headlights. It's not a huge advantage to have running lights, because when the climates come that you need to turn on the headlights anyways, they aren't necessary. Read More

Some makes of cars have their lights on all the time, usually if the manufacturer is Swedish, where daytime-running-lights (or DRL) are mandated by law. If you check the cars which have lights on during the day, you'll notice they'll be Volvo, Saab or some other Nordic manufacturer. Read More
Why does the dash board daytime running light indicator flicker and goes out and the service light come on when you put the car in gear to drive in your 2002 cavalier?

Headlamps and tail lamps not working on 2000 Chevy Metro just the daytime running lights are working Changed the fuse still not working?
In my case, when turning the lights on, the daytime lights turn off, but the taillamps still on. I found that the steering wheel combo switch (turning lights/windshield switch) connector (the clear color one, was excesive hot and the plastic melt. I changed the connector by a junkyard one and it worked. I guess if you don't have one handy, you'll need to fix your old one. Read More

There is a heat-sink resistor (has fins), approximatily 2" square under the dash just to the right of the steering column. It drops the voltage to 8 volts. People like to cut the wires to this device to disable the running lights. It is rare for this device to fail. Read More
I had a similar problem where just one of the daytime running lights didn't work, this was also accompanied by one of the high beams not working. The wiring for that circuit is exposed too much and is subject to corrosion. Test the wiring at different points until you find the short, or see the corroded wires. Once you find the problem , its an easy cut-and-repair job. Hope that helps. Read More
open your hood and look at the space directly above the headlight assembly. you will see an L-shaped metal rod about 1/4" in diameter and a couple of 5" long. look at how that rod is latched down and unlatch it. slide it out to one side (it can only slide out one way). this will unhinge the top headlite housing. tilt that housing out of the way. you will now be able to see… Read More

What would cause daytime running lights and check engine light and power windows and instrument gauges and lights to quit working as working?
All of these parts run on electricity, and for all of them to fail would be bad. Bad or burnt wiring could cause them not to work, or a alternator going bad could cause them not to work as well. Read More

How can i fix a 1999 Pontiac sunfire that the tail lights and brake lights are not working but daytime runners and back window brake light works what is wrong?
On my 98 sunfire, the tail lights and marker lights only work if you turn on the headlights. If only the daytime lights are on, the Pontiac on the trunk is illuminated but no other lights at the rear until brakes or turn signals are activated. This is common with a lot of vehicles out there. Daytime running lights are not necessarily the same candle power as the headlights. I can tell a big difference… Read More

The most likely reason why the interior lights of a vehicle are not working is because a fuse has blown. That is especially true if all of them are not working. Get out your owners manual. See where the fuse box is located. Find the particular fuse, and replace it. Read More
What could be wrong if the low beams and high beams stopped working on a 2000 Toyota Tundra but the bulbs are fine and the daytime running light and the parking lights and blinkers still work?
If the high and low beam headlights stopped working on a 2000 Toyota Tundra, the fault could be with the headlight relay switch. This is a large fuse located in the fuse box on top of the battery. Read More
What will cause the dim lights not to work when on but bright lights work and the daytime running lights changed the dimmer swith still not working?
Im Assuming you Should Check The Whole Lighting System. Usually it NOT the switch but could be. suprised me once when it was, but again usually not. The Daytime lights a separate from the Regular beams, check the high and low beams next before anything else. maybe just an old light that decided to Crap out? Read More

PS if you want your daytime driving lights to quit working just pull the dlr relay and put it in the autoheadlamp hole.... this will not hurt your vehicle at all it will only save your headlamp bulb some hours Read More

It's called a Daytime Running Light Module or DRL or DTRL module. This controls/switches on the low beams automatically as Daytime running lights, it could be faulty, especially if your bulbs are fine (High and Low Beams both working). Any idea how to troubleshoot faulty daytime running lights on a 1999 Chevy Suburban 4x4 that has a good DRL fuse and dash light along with working low and high beams?
This may sound funny, but make sure the parking brake is completely released Answer The daytime running lights have a fuse, relay, control module, and a diode. The last three are located under the left side of the instrument panel. They will all need to be checked. You may also have a short or open in the DRL circuit. since the high beams are working and they are the same bulbs as the DRL's. Read More

Why is the day running lamps and the low beam lights not working but the high beam and parking lights working?
most likely the fuse for low beams is burned out, OR the actual bulbs, themselves, have burned out. in many cars, the low beam and the daytime running lights are the same bulb, with less amperage being used during the day, making them a tad less bright. But this constant usage wears the filament out, faster, so they wear out earlier. ck bulbs first, or have autozone/parts store guy help you out. Read More

The most probable cause is a low battery if the vehicle is not running. But this may be "normal" for your unit. If this happens when the vehicle is running, you might need a quick check of the electrical system. The headlights draw a lot of current, and this will cause the voltage in the electrical system to "sag" or "dip" a bit. In a small lamp like an interior light, even a few tenths… Read More
