check to see if any spokes broke and fell in the hub that happened to me it started to grind and not move but it broke out of the hub
btw how much oil does your bike hold i got a 2001 v star 650 classic and need to change the

When you put your 89 Chevy into drive it will not move and when you put it back into park the trany grinds what could this be?
Could be a broken 1/2 shaft or inner cv joint. Sounds like the transmission is moving the inner part of the 1/2 shaft but the outer is not moving, so when you put vehicle in "Park" you are stopping the inner part of the 1/2 shaft.
