For the 02-05 Avalanche models (I don't know about the later ones) there is a series of connectors on one plate. This plate is located on the in-side of the right rear quarter panel. I Removed the black socket (for the right rear lamps) and found that one of the connector pins had either corroded or burned up.
Unfortunately this means that the whole plate will have to be replaced. So far I can't find any replacement online so I'll try the dealership. as a last resort, I'll just cut , solder and insulate the necessary wire to get it working again.

Blown fuse or bad brake light switch?
There should be a fuse for the brake lights. If the fuse is good always check the ground wire.
Most likely no brake lights would be due to a faulty switch on the brake pedal or a bad fuse.

The flashers are in the DS fuse panel, behind that fuse panel there is also a flasher relay that controls the truck and trailer signal lights and the trailer brake lights. To get to the back of the fuse panel you must take the bottom part of the dash off.
