Go to an AutoZone. They have the little plug in boxthat checks your computer. Usually it's from stuff like piston mis-fires. They might be able to look at it and reset it. It might not go away imediatly, but it worked on mine.
I have a 98 buick park avenue and we were told to disconnect the battery for a few minutes then hook back up. May take up to fifteen minutes to reset. Just try this and see if it works for you. I took a strong magnet and placed it over the fuel gauge needle and rotated it counter clockwise and it …went back into the correct position. Do this with the car key out with the engine off. Worked great for me. ( Full Answer )
Can you reset the Service Engine Soon light on a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant GTZ without taking it to a dealership?
I have a 2002 Galant GTZ - basically the same car. Disconnect the battery cable for a period of time. This will clear out the computer's memory and reset the light. If the light continues to come back on afterwards, then you might want to get it checked. I've done this on my Galant as well as a 1999… Jeep Cherokee and 1999 Dodge Avenger. I think it will work on any car where the engine light doesn't turn off unless externally reset. When I've done it, I've had the battery cable off for as long as overnight and short as 4 or 5 hours. Just depended on when I disconnected it and when I needed to drive it again. May be able to do it for less time. Just need it to be long enough for the computer to lose it's memory. Of course, you'll lose your radio presets as well. ( Full Answer )
which light is it... there are quite a few of them do you have an ODB scanner? you can pick them up for about $50 does the light say "Service required" ...? is it in the instrument cluster or on the middle car information panel
Answer . If the vehicle is 1996 or newer, then it uses a OBDII computer system for onboard monitoring functions. The check engine light can be turned off by using the "clear" function of a scan tool (which can be rented at Auto-Zone or be done at the dealership).
If you have a regular jeep radio system in it,you can simpley use a pen to push the hour and minute buttons. These are located right under the slot for the CD or right above the eject button.

The 2007 VW Passat has a 'SERVICE NOW' message the triggers every 5k miles. This usually has to do with the oil change. You can reset it by doing the following. With the key sitting in the ignition but NOT on (not even accessories...the key is in in there but literally just about to fall out) push a…nd hold the wrench button (on the dashboard). Count 5 seconds, start the car while still pushing the wrench button and then push the min button on your clock. You must be holding the wrench button and the min button at the same time to reset the service message. To test if you've reset properly, turn the car off and start it again. If you've reset properly the 'SERVICE NOW' will not appear and is automatically reset for 5k miles. ( Full Answer )

Turn the key ON (all the way) but do not start the car. Press and hold the trip reset button for about 10 seconds and the central display of your instrument cluster will first show you the oil service, release the button, press and hold it again and the word "reset?" will appear, release the button …and press it again until it shows"----", relaese the button at that moment and let the car recalculate the new value. Once it shows the new mileage value of the next oil service, press and release the button again and it will take you the front brakes and so on. Repeat the above procedure for each component. The order of the menu is the same as the one showed on the navigation display (under the menu Service). Note that it is not recommended to reset the brake pads (front and rear) especially if there's less than 2000 miles left as the computer might drop its "due" mileage to a negative number of -9000 miles. That car has a brake pads thickness self-monitoring system and will re-calculate the mileage left based on the actual thickness but it might stay on a negative mileage until you change the brake pads. If after this (after you changed the brake pads) you still can't reset it then you need to take it to somebody who has a GT-1 (BMW original computer) to reset it. You will save 1000s of dollars if you do this yourself. Have fun. Visitor ( Full Answer )

here is the detail instruction on resetting trans fluid with VolvoVIDA DiCE I have successfully tested and changed the automatic transmissionfluid for my 2000 Volvo S80 T6 with 174k with the VOLVO VIDA DICE OBD diagnostic system today. Yesterday my vehicle gave me"Transmission service required'" m…essage with an accompanyingorange engine service light. After well installed Vida software, connect the Volvo Dice kit withvehicle via OBD socket Complete vehicle information under Vehicle profile program. First thing I need to do is to reset the Transmission ServiceRequired light Go to fault tracing Click Delivery tab Scroll down and click READ ALL to get the error code Click ERASE ALL to clear all error codes Then I ought to reset auto transmission fluid and changecounter: Click on Diagnostic Tab Click on the sub tab Vehicle Communication Go to TCM Module, go to advanced tab Click Transmission Fluid Change Counter button Click VCT-2000 icon to reset both transmission fluid change counterand adaptation systems. If a WV car dealer replaces a car transmission and the car owner takes the car and stops payment on the check is it legal for the car dealer to repossess the car for non payment of services rendered?
Not sure how the laws of WV differ from here in NC, but I can tell you that a mechanic can legally keep your vehicle until you pay for the repairs this is referred to as a mechanics lien. You have a certain amount of time to pay for the repairs plus storage if they choose to charge for storage. If a…fter the time limit is up the vehicle owner still has not made the required payment the shop can legally sell the vehicle at auction to cover the amount of the repair/storage bill. Since you are in physical possession of the vehicle the shop will probably have to go through small claims proceedings in court (sue you) to recover the amount that you owe. ( Full Answer )

If its due to you reaching your service interval, you can reset your service indicator by doing the following: - turn the ignition on - press the left button on the side of the speedometer two times to display the service interval indicator - when it appears, push and hold the left button, th…en while holding the button down turn the ignition off - now while holding the button down still turn the ignition on and hold the left button further for 10 seconds - release the button and this should now reset the service indicator If its not the service indicator and if you don't do the service with the above reset its not a good idea to do the above as it might make the next service level much higher and also can cause warranty issues if you don't get servicing done. The above is to allow people who service the smart outside of a smart dealership the chance to reset the indicator. ( Full Answer )
I'm pretty sure you need a code reader which has a reset. Other wise, in some cases, I think you can disconnect the battery which resets the computer in some cars.

This is just a guess: Usually at 60k miles the regular service is a flush of all thefluids, tire rotation, oil change, new wipers, air intake filter, cabin air filter, and spark plugs, but considering the age, I wouldalso change your belts while you're at it.
