You need to get it scanned first , It could be a number of different things including 1. Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 2. Lambda Sensor ( there are 2 Bank 1 is the one closest to engine Bank 2 is the one furtherest away from engine ) 3.MAP sensor ( Manifold Absolute Pressure ) located near to the dipstic tube at the rear and on the side of the engine , as i said you need to get it scanned.

yes as long as they are the same stud fitment. The mk4 golf is 5x100 bolt pattern and the mk3 golf is 4x100. unless it's a vr6 model which has the 5x100 bolt pattern so in general the mk4 wheels will not fit a mk 3.
