Hindu calender starts from 3102BC since then 5111 years passed by. Hindu myth says after 5000 years the present kaliyuga(era) will end and a golden age will start. if this is true the golden age has already started based on lunar Hindu calender years. there is nothing special about the year 2012.

It's a common fairy tale, so to say, that the world will end in 2012. As far as science goes, they believe that certain astronomic issues will arise on the date of December 21, 2012. Culturally, the Mayan calendar ends on this date as well. Religiously, there says nothing of a date, but instead of a tragic event to happen (rapture) Logically, there's nothing to say that the world will end in 2012 other than just another crisis. Be careful what you hear ;)

well, my friend, think of it this way,if it is going to end in 2012 then wait until december 24th or sometime in the december 20ths, and in 2102 we will most likely be dead anyway, so no need to worry about the second one. now if you are thinking about those mayans, dont believe a thing, it is one big calendar. i believe that the poor sod making it died or got bored, thats why it stopped. proof of that is probably the fact that if they predicted the tsunami and the rise of hitler, they must have signaled it on the calendar, right?. now on the calendar, it says nothing about any world ending or, in fact, anything about major disasters. it just stopped. and so now you know. hope this helped.
