First, let's just hope that you DO NOT mean that it will go only in drive and no other gear. If it reads just drive then don't worry, it is just the indicator dial. They break very easy. And will not effect everyday driving.

If Reverse works and Drive doesn't in a Safari Van, the problem is in the transmission. The belts for the forward gears are either stretched too much or broken.

It is possible, POSSIBLE, that your odometer drive motor had broken some teeth on the gears and is jammed, therefore causing the motor to want to keep spinning, but it cannot because the broken gears have jammed it - this could possibly cause the fuse to blow. How many miles are on it?
i have two answers Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive 2, 1.when the paddle is in the D or drive gear there is 3 gears plus over drive total of 4 driving forward gears. like 90% of all other cars out there.
