i have 8 hp horiz. Briggs leaking at the mail seal, flywheel side. I put a new seal on but it still leaks. I suspect too much crankcase pressure, maybe the breather is not open enough?
anyone got some ideas on this? when I turned the engine by hand without the seal present, lots of air vented out the oil drain hole behind the seal. that is why I suspect high pressure. Is this normal? it runs great but leaks out the flywheel side main seal.

snapper the engine was made in georgia
The coil is under the cowling on top of the motor where the flywheel is.
you put a new seal kit in it on a tractor ore what
The recommended oil is 5w30 full synthetic oil.
It is a Briggs & Stratton Engine, so get the engine model and try jackssmallengines.com.
check your wiring harnes to your starter. make sure it is not connected backwards
Mine was doing the same thing, and it turned out one of the plugs was not firing, which turned to be not the plug but the coil for that side (Briggs & Stratton 18hp on an MTD 1650 lawn tractor)
Yes, most all of the Briggs single cylinder engines are exchangable. You just need to be concerned to make sure that you don't under power your mower. In your case that is not a problem.
protection valve maintains air in the tractor brake system in the event of the trailer air lines becoming compromised.for example, if a trailer line is leaking, broken or disconnected
Try going to their web site or you could order a manual from them.
If its less than 20 horse power, it probably wont have one. Mine is a briggs and stratton 14.5 hp and it does not have one.
