At today's prices, the silver in an old half dollar is worth several dollars. The gold is undoubtedly too thin to be of much value. The gold plating reduces the value to coin collectors, but whoever plated the coin expected to be able to sell it at a premium. There is undoubtedly someone out there who would like it and be willing to buy it at a small premium IF it is in excellent condition (little if any wear).

Is the eagle side of a 1922 silver dollar upside down in comparison to lady liberty on the front?

Yes. Please check your pocket change. ALL U.S. coins have their reverse sides oriented upside-down with respect to the obverse (front) side. There's nothing special about that orientation. Some countries' coins have both sides oriented the same way while others are opposite. It's just a matter of choice.

How much is a 1913 lady liberty V coin marked copy worth?

Nothing. Copy coins are not produced by the US mint and have no collector value at all. While some higher quality collector coins are produced using the same materials as the authentic coin (such as a 1933 double eagle copy being made in gold and a 1804 silver dollar copy being struck in silver) a nickel contains no precious metal value and if made with the exact same specifications as the US nickel, it might be worth 4-5 cents in scrap.

What is the value of a 1921 US dollar coin With Liberty profile on front and eagle on back?

ALL dollar coins minted before 1935 had Miss Liberty on the front and an eagle on the back. In particular there were 2 designs issued in 1921 so you need to know which one you have. The most common design has an eagle with outstretched wings on the back. It's called a Morgan dollar after its designer. As of 07/2008 it would retail for $14-18 depending on condition. Some coins were struck using a new design featuring an eagle with folded wings and the word PEACE near the bottom of the back side. While most coins dated from 1922 to 1935 that have this design are pretty common, those dated 1921 can be worth $75 to $200.

Where can you find the mint mark on a 1921 Morgan half dollar?

There's no such coin. The Morgan design was used on most 1921 silver $1 coins, while half dollars from that time carried A. A. Weinman's famous walking Liberty image.

What did the first US 1 dollar coin look like?

The first official US $1 coin was the so-called "flowing hair" dollar, introduced in 1794. It featured a nondescript image of Miss Liberty on the front and a very scrawny eagle on the reverse side. The flowing hair design only lasted a year and a half; it was replaced in mid-1795 with a somewhat more elegant "draped bust" portrait of Miss Liberty on the front while the eagle's image remained unchanged. What is the difference between a trade silver dollar and a Morgan silver dollar?

The coins were issued for different purposes and have different designs. The Trade dollar was slightly heavier and issued only for Overseas circulation, mainly in the Orient. It had a Liberty figure seated on the front (the joke was on a toilet seat) while the reverse has a heraldic eagle. (Oddly the positions of the olive branch and arrows in the eagle's talons are reversed, signifying a preference for war. The Morgan dollar is only one of a series of silver dollars that were minted for use in the US. "Morgan" refers to its designer, George T. Morgan, rather than to the denomination as a whole. Other silver-dollar designs included Liberty Head, Peace, Seated Liberty, etc. Morgan's design shows stylized Goddess of Liberty with a visored crown, and seems to be based on the Greek goddess Arethusa - a maritime goddess- maybe the princess of Atlantis, so to speak, while the tails side shows a spread-winged American eagle. Both Latin and Gothic letterings are used on the reverse of the Morgan dollar.

Can a 1957 series A blue seal one dollar silver certificate be exchanged for a one dollar silver eagle coin and if so where do you exchange it?

No. Redemption of silver certificates for coins was ended in 1964 and for silver bullion in 1968. In any case a typical 1957 $1 silver certificate sells for about $1.25 to $1.50 in circulated condition while a silver eagle sells for at least the current price of an ounce of silver so it would definitely be an unequal exchange.

What is a 1987 silver liberty dollar worth?

It's a bullion coin whose value fluctuates with the spot price of silver. Check your newspaper or Google SPOT PRICE SILVER for current figures.P.S. ALL U.S. coins carry the word Liberty so that's not a distinguishing characteristic.More:The value of the 1987 American Silver Eagle Bullion coin depends greatly on silver but also where it was minted and what condition the coin is in. Uncirculated coins were minted in Philadelphia while Proof coins were minted in San Francisco. According to USA Coin Book, an MS65 brilliant uncirculated coin from Philadelphia is worth about $20 while a PR65 brilliant proof coin from San Francisco is worth about $45.

What is difference between trade dollar and liberty seated?

Aside from the minor differences in design, the greatest difference between the US Trade Dollar and the Seated Liberty Dollar is the weight. The Liberty Seated Dollar weighs 26.73 grams while the US Trade Dollar weighs 27.22 grams. Both contained 90% silver and 10% copper altthough the Trade Dollar had slightly more silver in it. The Trade Dollar was issued primarily for circulation in the Orient while the Seated Liberty Dollar was issued for circulation in the USA.

I have a 1942 walking liberty and the lady is in gold and on the back the eagle is in gold also the coin is silver is it worth anything i haven't seen anyone like it?

You have a normal half dollar coin that was plated with a small amount of gold by a private company and sold as a collectible. While it is quite attractive (even unaltered, the Walking Liberty design is considered by many to be one of the 2 or 3 most beautiful U.S. coins) it has no special value to coin experts. In fact, it's considered to be an altered coin worth only its silver value of about $7.

What is the value of a 1986 silver liberty quarter?

Liberty quarters were made from 1796 to 1930. While all modern quarters have the word LIBERTY on them, they're standardly called Washington quarters because they have a picture of President Washington on them. Second, all circulation quarters minted since 1965 have been made of copper-nickel, NOT silver, so your coin is an ordinary quarter with no added value.
