Mark driveshaft and yoke to insure re-installing in the same location to maintain factory balance remove and discard small "U" bolts at differntial yoke pry driveshaft out of yoke and up onto transmission splines lower driveshaft to ground and slide off of transmission splines use new small "U" bolts upon installation
Chevy impala ss 94-96, Buick roadmaster, watch for the rear end some are 7.5 with will require a different drive shaft. The 8.5 is a better housing anyway.

there is no front shaft in 63 impala Wrong answer, it's about two feet from the transmission to the carrier bearing
the third member/ carrier and torque tube are one you will have to remove them as an assym

It should be located at the output end of your transmission, before the drive shaft. It should have wires (usually two) coming out from it.

i work at a Chevy dealership and have seen this many times. 1 of ur frt drive axle shafts is bad. raise vehicle and u can usually grab axle shaft and move which 1 is bad
