sounds like you need to change your tranny filter and fluid ( never ever have your older tranny power flushed)
i would suspect either a low fluid level, or a nearly wornout transmission.
Because you don't have enough the transmission fluid in the system.
How can I tell if a 1995 torque converter is going bad the tranny slips and stops when it warms up.
Try to replace the oil filter if the transmission is not engaging when it's cold.
front pump or clutches more than likely its the clutches
Check the transmission fluid level (no you cant check it like oil level you need to have it on and in gear (make sure the wheels are blocked and the emergency break is on)). You may want to also check to see if the rubber transmission mount is sagging.
I would check the transmission fluid level.
transmissions works fine when cold but when it warms up it spins or acts like it is in neutral I have to turn off engine and let it cool off Help.
There's no trick are easy fix for that. You must pull the transmission out and have a trained mechanic rebuild it.
try the air sensor and fuel filter if not pay 80bucks and get the diagnostics done at ford
better look into getting a new cable for it sometimes they get water or rusted inside and makes it difficult to engae till the cable warms
Had same problem with 1998 ford contour gl. Replaced transmission range sensor and problem stopped.
