when filling the system with coolant with antifreeze the system must be properly bled. you can fill it from the reservoir but that will take forever, just disconnect the upper radiator hose and fill it from there, once full then connect it back to the radiator and continue filling from the reservoir. on top of the water pump there is an 8mm bolt as the car is running loosen it and let a stream of coolant pour out, youll see all the air escaping the system as the system gets hot. just open and close it several times till there is no more air escaping. also those sensors on the reservoir do go bad, its a 20 year old carNOTE: if your not using an original BMW hose it may expand when hot and run too close to the fan, rubbing against it and tearing a hole in the hose, use a zippy tie and hold it out of the way connecting it to the hoisting connector thing its kinda ghetto but its been working fine for me for 3 years now 1988 528e with euro bumpers and headlight,17in rims. every day driver 270,000 miles. original motor and trans. best car ever built
