The thermostat on a 1989 Nissan Sentra is on the front of the motor to the left. It is just below where the valve cover meets top of the manifold. The thermostat is enclosed in the radiator hose at that location.

WHERE IS THE Thermostat location on a 1989 Toyota Cressida?
Open the bonnet, fink radiator filling cap, follow the L shaped hose, right at the end of it you have the thermostat housing, remove the 3 bolts and under you should see the thermostat. I think you will need a new gasket too by the way.
