The EGR valve is located in the center of the engine on a F150 Lariat 5.4 liter. It is near the firewall.
the engine is a v6
It's inside the plastic housing between the engine air filter and the big rubber engine air intake tube
Mine was located under the hood on the passenger side fender well close to the battery.
Have vehicle scanned to determine the problem
The engine oil filter is a spin on and should be located under the drivers side rear of engine.
Disconnecting the battery cable for a few minutes will reset the check engine light. If the light comes back on you will have to get the issue fixed or it will keep coming on.

Have you checked the computer codes? If so, what do they say?
The condition may possibly be piston slap.
