Just happened on this, don't know how old the question is, but here goes. It's very easy, first of all. First either have a shop manual with the route of the belt in it, or make a good drawing of the old one so you know just where it weaves in and out of all the pulleys - it's like ten of them or something. The tension adjustment is under the Power Steering pump, which is on top of everything on the right side front of the engine. There's a little adjusting screw underneath, and a lock nut on the bracket. Loosen the lock nut (think there's one, check if there's two - just from memory, here) You may put some WD40 if it's crusty, to free it up. Loosen the adjusting screw and gradually the old belt will come off. Put on the new one EXACTLY the same, tighten up the belt, clamp down the lock nut, and it's done - pretty easy, really, just do it carefully. Oh, yes - the belt is supposed to be really tight. I don't remember torque or anything, but it's not like an old fanbelt that's supposed to have 1/2" of flex - this is supposed to be really tight. In fact, if you think maybe yours is shot it could just be that it's loose.
What engine?
Their are 2 main bolts that hold on a thermostat housing for an 1987 jeep cheorkee pioneer!!
The power steering pump is located on the front of the engine. The uppermost pump connected to the serpentine belt.
That depends on what size engine you have. HOwever, most Jeep Cherokee/Grand Cherokees had compatible parts from 1984 to 1998(1). (1)Chilton Repair Manual
What engine is it? 2.5L, 2.8L, 4.0L or Diesel? What accessories do you have? What transmission (manual or auto)? Is it 4 wheel drive or 2 wheel drive?
This is a serpentine belt that runs all of the pulleys on the front of the engine. There is a separate tensioner pulley and not one for the water pump alone. A bad tensioner will allow the serpentine belt too much slack which will allow the belt to slip and yes, the engine can overheat as a result.
It could be your serpentine belt, thermostat or water pump.
Put the serpentine belt on to the pulleys of your 1994 Chevy engine. Tighten a serpentine belt with the tensioner pulley.
what engine size? 2.0 soc does not have serpentine belts, has 2 serpentine timng belts. need engine size to help more.
Yes, the serpentine belt runs the peripheral components on the engine. The timing chain is inside of the engine.
yes the serpentine belt will be hot after running engine
There is a 15mm. bolt (long bolt) that adjusts the tension of the serpentine belt. It is in the area of the power steering pump, just left and down. Either draw a map, or look on the front of the engine compartment to see how the belt is routed around the pulleys.
