A few possibilities here. Oil and oil filter issues, fuel injector issues, cam issues.

you should have three belts total. Going from the fan towards the distributer the first belt should be the power steering, then the actual fan belt, then the third belt is the alternator / a/c belt, i hope this is helpful for you! Why does your 1987 Grand Wagoneer sometimes stall going around a turn or just going straight sometimes?
this sounds like a fuel problem. you may have low fuel preassure or the fule filter is patialy clogged or the carb needs to be rebuilt. honestly, my 1987 grand wagoneer just keeps on driving when i want it to turn! - its so not fair; i know, but old things tend to break down, and if its new, you just have bad luck. how to stop your wagoneer from stalling when it turns is really quite easy if i do say so myself. all you need to do is jump up onto the roof of your car; bang it 15 times on the top; and then do a Tarzan like yell. OOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAHHHH!AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA and then all you have to do is jump up and down and act like an ape! - awe, I'm just pulli'n your leg. what you really do, is you pull out your handy dandy box of engine fluid, and pour it into your engine. if that doesnt work, try changing the oil and a and adding more gas when you can. hey if all of this fails, remember; I LOVE STEPHEN P! HE IS SO NICE. SEE YA. Check your battery connections. these can get hot/cold and loose and tight. You want them tight all the time. Secondly, make sure the cable going to the starter motor is tight also. just be careful you don't zap yourself. Does the car turn over when it "is not starting"?

Fuel pump located on 1987 grand wagoneer?
The location of the fuel pump in on the drivers side of the motor. When standing in front of the motor looking at it, it will be on your right side up front. If your looking the carb, there is a fuel line near the bottom left side of the front of the carb, that runs toward you, the front of the motor, and then curvs down near the distributor. That fuel line is coming from the fuel pump going to the carb. To replace you will need two line or open ended wrenches, and remove two bolts that hold the pump in place. Very easy to do.

tricky to see with all the power options, but its right up on the front of the engine. look on the drivers side, more or less directly beneath the steering pump. it's a sort of flat round shape, with (as far as i can remember) a line coming in the bottom, and one going out the top. you can also just follow the fuel lines that are tucked along the left framerail right near the front, they lead right to it. hope this helps. This is a good description in addition you can follow the fuel line from the carb down to the fuel pump. it is hidden by the distributor.

Ahhh.... The bain of any Jeeper.... will one Jeep engine fit another Jeep application???? With the AMC 360 you're pretty safe as far as the engine goes. But you better make certain that the Mopar 727 will work without all the computer junk. It's going to be the '73s lack of electronics that's going to be the problem. You're going to have to swap the intake and exhaust manifolds for sure, front bracketry for the smog pump, and qute possibly the pulleys too. Jeep4x.com and Grandwagoneer.com is a great source for intormation. I've been down this road in the mixing and matching of Jeep running gear into a non Jeep vehicle. Lots of fun. Kept the axles, but ran with a non Jeep engine and tranny.
