1990 Manual Geo Storm 2 2 1.6 SOHC will not start and it is not the battery alternator or starter push-starting it works and once its running it runs fine what is wrong with it?

This is just a hunch, but check the switch associated with the clutch pedal that has to be depressed in order to start the car.

no the charging system consists of the battery and the alternator. the battery being the starting point of the system. the battery provides the initial power. the alternator then keeps your battery charged while the motor is running. the starter gets its power from the battery but has no relation to the charging system. the starter has but only one function and that is to power up upon initial start up and turn your motor over to get it running. hope that helps you out a little bit.

If the battery is fully charged and the starter is working properly it will turn over and start. The alternators sole purpose is to supply voltage to the vehicle and battery when the engine is running. When the engine is not running the alternator has nothing to do with starting the engine. If the alternator went bad and the battery was discharged then you will have to charge the battery before it will be able to start the engine. Do not jump start the engine with a dead battery if you can avoid it. This puts a strain on the alternator trying to recharge a dead battery and can damage the alternator, even a new one.
