Check engine compression Check engine timing
Timing light. The instructions are on the engine hood.
You can set the base timing by ear, But to be able to get the check engine light to go out and to set the timing were it is supose to be requires a engine scanner. The computer controlls the timing on that year engine.
changed battery engine light stays on
What year F250 and what engine??
Basically, the timing is set and adjusted by the engine computer.
The timing on that year engine is computer controlled and you must have an engine scanner to set the timing. That engine has a cam and crank sensor and they must be in correlation / TIME with each other. Are you will have a check engine light on and poor performance.
timing CHAINAdded: Check the above answer out carefully - I have an '04 and my engine has a timing BELT. Recommended replacement mileage for the belt is 90,000 miles.
