Be sure and check the VSS, vehicle speed sensor located on the transmission, just below the engine-end of the lower radiator hose. Remove air intake tube to access it.
The speedometer in your 1994-1997 Accord is electronic, but not digital. It does not operate from a cable (as the previous wrong answer stated). There are plenty of used speedometer clusters for sale on ebay, changing it is easy, by disassembling the dash and console, with a simple Phillips screwdriver. Expect to pay less than $50 for a good used cluster.
It does not matter if yours has ABS or not, if the new cluster you receive doesn't have it, just swap the 'new' speedometer into your old cluster. Again, just Phillips screws.
Make sure the one you buy is from a 4 cylinder car, if that's what you have, and auto or manual transmission. V-tech or not, does not matter.
A speedo from a 6 cylinder car does not work in a 4 cylinder car.
the average distance you will travel in an hour
the average distance you will travel in an hour
No. Instantaneous speed is shown on the speedometer.
I would call it current speed, not average speed.
what you see when you look at the speedometer is the average distance you have traveled. notice the speedometer says mph Miles Per Hour how many miles you have traveled per hour.
instantanous speed
instantaneous speed
instantaneous speed.
It reads instantaneous speed, and tells you nothing about average speed.
In a car, the speedometer measured Instantaneous speed. This comes from the assumption that the car does not slow down and speed up fast enough for the speedometer to be able to give an average of the changing speed.
It shows instantaneous speed.
