You'll do it much the same as I did. Get a can of WD40 with the new Smartstraw built in.
Spray it into the lock. Spray it into every orifice relating to the lock. Try to work the lock.
If that doesn't do it then take a screwdriver and remove the interior of the door so you can see the mechanism. It's quite a complex linkage.
Ford install a kind of a white grease but that has gone dry. Grease is actually a soap with some light oil dissolved in it. It releases a bit of the oil at a time. Eventually it releases all the oil. Light oil dries up, actually evaporates, over years. WD40 is a mixture of light and heavy oils and after the light part evaporates there is a tiny amount of heavy oil that makes a thin coat.
I usually follow up WD40, not with grease, but a heavy oil which is water resistant, very slick, very long lasting, doesn't stain clothes, doesn't harm rubber or plastic and doesn't smell bad as motor oil and gear lube do. It's olive oil.
Olive oil doesn't move in immediately but it will follow the lead of the penetrating WD40. In a few days locks will open and close at a touch.
Spray WD40 onto the rollers in the grooves for the side door as well to make them move smoothly. I get olive oil into such places with a bit of sponge or a paint brush.
Then do that with every lock, hinge and pivot you can reach.
I have a 1995 Aerostar and the switch is on the passenger side, inside the door, down below the dash, behind the moulding. Hopes that this helps.
the door on my 94 aerostar only opens from the outside and only if you hold the lock button up on the inside while you pull the handle. it is a pain it the but. i am going to take it apart this weekend and maybe i can help you next week. it is probably just a hook or latch that came off inside the door.
you have to remove the inside panels to get at the latch to open
It is located inside the cab behind the trim in front of the passengers door.
The 1995 ford Aerostar did not come stock with a factory amp. If your van has an amp then it was added aftermarket.
What is the firing order for 1995 Ford Aerostar 30L and direction of rotation on distributor?"
How do you open sliding door on a 1996 Ford Aerostar Van that will not disengage?
If the Aerostar is not set for auto lock when the vehicle is put into gear, check the door lock, switch. Also check the lock relay and wiring for a possible short.
Yes
I believe it's on the passenger sidewall under the dash near the door.
My 1995 Ford Explorer has a diagram in the front of the engine compartment showing how the serpentine belt is routed . Does your Ford Aerostar not have that .
A ( 1996 ) Ford Aerostar has a ( 21.0 U.S. gallon / 79.5 litre gas tank )
