...it fixed the issue on my 1995 ElDorado, BUT you must disconnect the battery for a little while to reset the computer to allow you to add Freon to the system. I had a leak and it fixed it for about 6 months. Both warnings went away until the system got low again.

Two problems that a refrigeration system could have are compressor problems or a lack of or loss of refrigerant gas.

Why would a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire's AC compressor not run?

The most common is low refrigerant. It can also be caused by other electrical problems as well, check he fuses.

What can cause ac compressor to start and stop?

Dirty condenser coils. Blocked suction lines. Low refrigerant charge. Incorrect suction line size. Too much refrigerant. Electrical problems. Contaminants in the system. Insufficient oil lubricant.

What does it mean when the AC on a 97 cavalier just stops working?

Quite a number of problems can cause your AC to fail, but perhaps the most common is low refrigerant. Refrigerant usually leaks, or more accuately seeps, out of the AC system. Over time, you'll need to add more refrigerant. The system detects low levels of refrigerant and shuts off the compressor until you add more. That is NOT the only reason AC systems "stop working".Faulty compressor, clutch, relay, switch, fuse... all of these and more can fail, causing the AC to stop working.

1997 ford mustang air conditioner orifce filter?

If the orifice filter is plugged, you have much more serious problems with the air conditioner. Getting debris in the refrigerant lines can only occur when the compressor is failing.

Why did my car's air compressor to go bad?

Refrigerant floodback could cause it from being over charged. Other things that could cause it are a lack of lubrication from an oil leak, contamination, electrical problems, or overheating from low or no coolant.

How much does a new compressor for a home ac unit cost?

Quite a bit. There is lots of work involved with a compressor changeout. Ex. The refrigerant needs to be removed. Then the compressor needs to be changed. Chances are there is acid in the lines so that needs to be taken care of. After the compressor is in place, the unit has to be nitrogen charged to check for leaks. Following that the system needs to be pulled down into a vacuum. Then refrigerant needs to be added. Chances are this unit uses R-22 so that alone will be costly. If you are looking to get this done for cheap and you actually find a hack that will do so, prepare for major problems down the line. And then have fun finding the hack to fix it again.

How can you fix your ac compressor on your 1991 Ford Taurus SHO?

AC compressors are relatively easy to replace, typically it's only the serpentine belt and a few bolts. The hoses are a little more trouble. Typically a worn or failed compressor has deposited debris in the refrigerant lines requiring that they be replaced or cleaned. The procedure is: 1, extract any remaining refrigerant from the system into an approved container suitable for recycling. 2, remove the serpentine belt, disconnect the refrigerant lines from the compressor then remove the bolts and lift out the compressor. 3, Examine the inside of the refrigerant lines, looking for any discoloration. If the remaining oil is not clear, you should flush all of the refrigerant lines to make sure they are completely clean. Since you'll be replacing the old R12 refrigerant with 134A, you should probably do that anyway. 4, Since the vehicle is "experienced", it would probably be a good idea to replace any of the rubber refrigerant lines. That way you can avoid some problems. Since they are that old they'll be leaking soon anyway so you're not really wasting money. 5, Replace the receiver/dryer. 6, connect the new compressor and refrigerant hoses. 7, Connect the serpentine belt. 8, evacuate the system. If you don't have an evacuation pump for air conditioners, have someone do that part for you. You need to verify that there are no leaks anywhere in the system BEFORE you put the oil charge or the refrigerant. Air conditioning compressors are not repairable by the home mechanic. Unfortunately your only option is to replace it.

THE air conditioning compressor on my 90 corvette shuts off after running a few seconds any ideas whats wrong?

The refrigerant level is probably low. When the compressor turns on it pulls refrigerant from the low side and as soon as the low side pressure drops below a certain point, the sensor disengages the AC clutch. If you haven't already converted your AC to 134A, now would be a good time. All vehicle AC compressors leak a little refrigerant, simply because of the design of the system. The system may not have any serious problems even though it has lost a little pressure.
