There are many answers to this question, I will give you ideas, It could be fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs, wires, coil pack, crankshaft positioning sensor. Any one of them will act like no fuel.
Is there a check engine light on?
How much fuel is in the tank?
Last tune up?
AnswerIn addition to the good suggestions above, the fuel pump relay, which sends power to the fuel pump, could be bad, or there may be a problem with the electrical wires, or a connector in-line with these wires, that the relay's output voltage travels along to the fuel pump. The relay is in the module that has at least three names: Integrated Control Relay Module (ICRM), or Constant Control Relay Module (CCRM), or Integrated Controller. The electrical connector that could have a problem, is located somewhere in the engine compartment (I wish I could be more specific, but its location probably varies depending on your specific engine). One way to tell if both the fuel pump and its relay are working to some degree, is to just turn the key to the Accessories position--if you hear a brief hum from below you, that's the fuel pump getting power and sending some fuel to the engine. This would mean the relay is probably OK, but it doesn't automatically mean the fuel pump is OK too. If you don't hear the fuel pump actuate, find the electrical connector that's in-line with the wires that send voltage from the fuel pump relay to the fuel pump, and unplug it and examine the condition of the metal plugs and sockets at each location inside that connector. Clean them if they look dirty or corroded. If that doesn't help, try another ICRM/CCRM--you can get one from a junk yard that will probably be good (if you're willing to go by statistical likelihood). The 1996 Ford Taurus sedan is approximately ( 197.5 inches long )
how do I replace a parking lamp (left) on a 1996 Ford Taurus
Common reasons for a 1996 Ford Taurus engine that turns over won't start are a faulty compressor or ignition. The engine may not be able to compress the air/gas mixture well enough for it to burn when the spark fires or the ignition may be unable to produce the spark required to start the combustion process.
