I also have a '97 Suburban and noticed that the blower switch has a slight "catch" to it, between "high" and the next setting down...or will be on the setting below "high" and suddenly kick into "high" on its own. Recommendation: altho mine is not much of a nuisance at this time, it would probably be best to just replace the blower fan control switch and that will take care of it. Looks easily accessible enough that probably you might be able to do it on your own, and go to Napa Auto Parts or other reputable parts dealer and order the switch.

There are two types of air conditioning types found in the 1997 Chevrolet Suburban. The front only ac systems have a Freon capacity of 36 ounces, while the front and rear ac systems have a capacity of 64 ounces.
Substitute a test light for the fuse and remove each socket and bulb until test ligh goes out that will tell you which area is shorted to ground Then you can replace socket, wiring, etc in that area only
NO... The only ones that will work is a 1996 or 1997 4L60E transmission if it is a 1/2 ton. The 3/4 tons used the 4L80E in them.
