That is a curious problem and I'm not sure I know the answer, but here's a guess.
I think the issue is with your alternator. If it's on the verge of failure, it will have a difficult time maintaining a charge. However, it's not weak enough to notice alone. When you kick your A/C compressor on, it's consuming load from the engine and taking away from the power the alternator is able to draw. This may be exposing the weakness of the alternator and not allowing it to do it's job. If true, you would be operating on battery power (as if you had no alternator at all), which would cause the engine to shut down after a few minutes, after the battery was drained.
Again, just a guess on my part. If you're having to charge the battery everytime this is happening, I think my guess would probably have more validity. If not, then I may be wrong. Good luck!
I'm no expert, but it could be a battery or alternator related problem.
it could be the starter
The cells in your battery could be dying, instead of buying one, use someones to try it, if it drains that one it sounds as though your altanator is shot. Good luck.
Start the car and while it is running, disconnect the positive cable from the battery. If the car stalls, the alternator is bad.
most likely the alternator is dead and when the battery drops below certain voltage the computer for the car can no longer operate and the vehicle shuts down
Sounds like the alternator isn't working at all. Have it checked. Good Luck!!
Will it even attempt to engage the starter?. If not then the battery or charging system needs to be looked at.
if you can start car pull off the neg battery cable if car stalls its the altinater if it stays running it might be the battery
Because you left the lights on all night. This drains the battery. Connect a battery charger and wait about 3 hours. Then the car might start. If it does not start buy a new battery or a new car whichever you prefer.battery juice is gone.
maybe its your alternator, if its giving off a weak enough charge, when you put the brake lights on, it drains too much power to run your engine. to check the alternator, start car, and remove the positive cable from your battery with some accesories running. if your car sputters, or stalls, just replace the alternator. hope this helps.
Check the charge on your alternater.
to make a quick check -- start car - disconnect the positive cable at the battery as it is running - if car stalls the alternator is bad if it stays running the battery is probably too weak to hold a charge. (daddmac)
