you don't. until you tear down the motor...once apart the cylinders can be pressure checked one at a time by a good mechanic.. good luck- also, call a Ford dealer and speak with the shop foreman...ask if this engine is an 'interference' engine when the chain breaks..:)
No. My 87 Tercel Wagon timing belt broke last year and the valves were not damaged. 3A and 3AC engines are non-interference.
On a 1998 Ford Taurus : The thread on cap on the engine coolant reservoir is the pressure cap / radiator cap
if it is pumping out when you rev engine then you have a blown head gasket
On a Ford Taurus V6 engine : firewall 1-----2-----3 4-----5-----6 front of vehicle > driver
Yes , it is an interference engine according to Gates ( they manufacture timing belts etc. )
Get a manual on your car from DISCOUNTAUTOREPAIRMANUALS.COM. there are many seals and some have to be done with the engine out.
The rear tailgate lock on my taurus wagon will not unlock. How do I open the back panel to get to the mechanism
If your car has the 2.8V6 it has a timing chain. If your car has the 2.54 cylinder engine it has timing gears. Neither has a timing belt or the problems that come with one.
one at a time
It is possible, but you would have to modify the engine bay slightly. This has been done before in the SHOWagon Project (converting a SLO Station Wagon into a SHO Wagon) and in Project SHO involving a 4th gen Taurus SE (2000-2006) conversion to a 4th gen Taurus SHO.
Yes it should be on the far right of the engine
If it's like my 1999 Taurus Wagon...push in the button that the key goes into
