There is no fuse on this circuit I has a small generator on the gearbox that produces current. Check the leads fron the gearbox and see that they have not become disconnected Thank you for you information. I thought that was the case since all fuses looked good and tested good but thought maybe a relay was At Fault. I did the simple attempt first to fix this problem and got lucky. I disconnected the battery and reconnected it a short time later. Everything is fine now. That info the dealer said about a computer having to be reprogrammed is simply not true with this car. All works fine.
If your odometer/speedometer stopped working, then you must replace the "vehicle speed sensor" located on top of the differential if your have a manual transmission.
If the interior lights and overdrive are also not working then is a fuse. Look in the owners manual to see which fuse.
According to my Haynes repair manual, 1996 and later models do not use a conventional speedometer cable. They use an electronic speedometer and a vehicle speed sensor (VSS)
according to the owners manual this could be related to a problem with the ABS. I have the same problem and am looking for a diy solution. also from the owners manual the ABS controls the transmission , and my transmission is shifting roughly, which is what I noticed before I noticed that the speedometer wasn't working.
The legality of replacing the odometer would be in question. I would take out the dash with the speedo and take it to a certified speedometer repair facility. Like stated before, I would buy a service manual or cd.
there is no separate drive for the odometer, so it's the gauge... also, everyone should have a manual for their vehicle, and the library should have a professional manual available...in the reference section, you'll have to make copies of the important sections...good luck :)
Hey Tony==Either manual or electric spedo if this happens the problem in in the speedo and needs to go to the speedo shop. GoodluckJoe
Have you checked fuse? Try new cable (wire) or connectors. Hope this helps.
== == Get a shop manual or download one and figure out where the speed sensor is. On older accords it was right on the transmission. Unplug that and your odometer will no longer work. However your speedometer wont work either, your cruise control wont work, and your cars check engine light will illuminate. However be it known that in some states and jurisdictions It is illegal to disable the odometer. It is called fraud.
The manual sez that the odometer lamp is a '73' but offers no help on how to replace it.
To get an owner's manual at a cheap price, would be on Ebay. Just type "Plymouth Voyager" and you'll get results. Hope this helps.
You can get one at at Dealer, Ebay, Salvage Yard, or many on-line sites. Search Google with the term, "Automobile Owners Manual".
