Under no circumstances do you crank. Antifreeze eats an engine like kids do candy. not sure if this post is years old, saw no date. Pull oil filter, drain oil. I would pour oil or kerosene through it . Lot more than it holds and let all drain out.

Personally, then I would pull plug wires so not to crank, I would fill with oil turn over for about 1 minute and drain again. Then I would feel safe to fill it and crank.

Not much worse thing you can do than put anti freeze in an engine.

Can you use water instead of antifreeze?

Yes, but. Antifreeze is also a corrosion inhibitor. It protects the engine and head gasket from corrosion problems. It is far better, and safer to use a 50/50 antifreeze and water mix in the engine.

If antifreeze puddle on ground from under coolant bucket do i need water pump?

It is possible that the antifreeze is coming from a bad water pump. Clean the engine off. Watch it to see where the antifreeze is leaking from, as it could be a hose instead of the pump.

diesel has a lower boiling point than antifreeze. as the engine heats up the diesel will vapourize and cause high pressure in your system. you will also has much worse temperature control in your engine.

Where do you add antifreeze in the engine I don't want to pour it in the wrong place I bought an antifreeze that is already mixed.?

Don't forget 50/50 solution too What kind of vehicle? What size engine? You don't add antifreeze to the engine, anyway. There should be an overflow jug on post '85 vehicles and on pre '85 vehicles you add the antifreeze to the radiator only. Please check your owner's manual or ask your car dealer for further information.

What happens to a car engine in freezing temperatures when there's no antifreeze?

If you have water instead of antifreeze in your cooling system, it will freeze! You won't be able to start the car, because the engine is connected to the water pump (which won't be able to move). If you have nothing in your cooling system (no water, no antifreeze, nothing else), then you need your head checked. Your car won't start either.

What is the synonym for antifreeze?

What are the effects of antifreeze mixing into the engine oil?

A bad head gasket is the most common cause of antifreeze mixing in the oil. The antifreeze will dilute the oil and it will eventually cause your engine to seize up.

Can check engine light go on w low antifreeze?

Doubtful !... The antifreeze is added to the radiator - to keep the water above freezing point. There is no way of the engine knowing how much antifreeze is circulating.

Where is antifreeze tank in 99 contour?

The engine coolant reservoir is in the engine compartment , on the passenger side , about the middle ( 50 / 50 mix of antifreeze and preferably distilled water , do not exceed 60 % antifreeze )
