I have the same problem, have traced it to a relay behind the glove compartment. But I have no idea which relay this is, have noticed if I depress the brake pedal just a bit the clicking stops. I am still looking for an answer.
it is behind the glove box, open the glove box, push the glove box catch up, and flip the compartment open, your combo relay is a black relay on the right side, that is where your ticking is coming from, bet thing you can try is to replace it. Mine does the same thing The problem is in the turn signal switch.

The cause for a turn signal flasher to keep clicking on a 1999 GMC Jimmy is a bad flasher unit. Replacing this with a new flasher unit should solve this problem.
front or rear turn signals
Most likely the turn signal flasher.
I am not a mechanic but it sounds like it is with your fuel injectors. They are either real dirty, clogged, not working at all or your ECU is not sending the injectors a signal to open. Good luck
It is under the lower dash pannel just left of the lighter
under you radio and behind the ash tray....u have two flashers ..one for the blinkers and the other for the signal lite
Your multifunction switch has an open circut, it is a recall and will be replaced by gmc for free. mine was the same way.
the turn signal flasher is under the dash panel below the radio, must remove lower hush panel and center panel.gmjim
What year in my 95 I had to install new flashers under the dash board. They look just like plugs and they just plug in. You will hear a ticking sound and know you did it right.
