Use the DEXCOOL- (ORANGE or RED IN COLOR). DO NOT MIX WITH REGULAR YELLOW PRESTONE COOLANT. Or, just have the system completely flushe and refilled with regular coolant. But YES IT DOES MATTER!!!! IF you mix different kinds, you WILL have problems from potential sludging, which can lead to overheated engine, which can lead to BIGGER problems. Cougar is the only Ford/MERC/Lincoln USA product to use this color or kind of Coolant. GM also uses this. FORD of Europe uses it as well. It supposed to offer better cooling capabilities, but to the regular joe, can be confusing and a little more pricey. CODE BLU
