Can't say for sure on the 2007, but my 2000 has a rocker switch at the top of the steering column to turn the parking lights on when the key is off.
On my 2000 Forester, the dashboard illumination dimmer control is on the turn signal stalk. --Ken

My 2000 model has a switch on top of the steering column for leaving the parking lights on when the engine is off. I don't know if the 2001 has one also, but if it does, try switching that.
Yes, it is definitely good to use transmission fluid in your Forester. I highly recommend it and use it in my 2000 with no problems.
If somebody knocks on the front door of the Subaru, the KNOCK sensor, sets off the KNOCK Alarm....LOL
Yes they do offer this, at least they did on my 2000. Check your owner's manual.
There is a second light switch that activates the parking lights without the key being on. It is on top of the steering column behind the steering wheel. If this switch is turned off and the lights remain on when the key is off, there is a malfunction in this circuit.
