There is one or two gates that allow air into the intake manifold, if one gets stuck the engine may stall, it happened to my 98 windstar
This is one of the times you hope the Check Engine Light is ON... It may give you clues as to what may be causing the stalling, low idle, or rough idle.
I've included a number of "Related Questions" below to other components that *might* be contributors.
Get a couple of cans of good throttle body cleaner and clean everything in sight.

Inspect k40 relay board and replace it if the soldered joints at top right of board are defective or resolder them. Please see: Link

sounds like the choke is not working correctly
Try the coil-pack. Check for a good bright spark.
