This depends on what model year the sportsman is. for older models, the dipstick/fill cap is a yellow colored cap located under the left front fender. It is tricky to refill. your best bet is to get a cheap funnel and clamp a piece of plastic hose to it. Snake the hose through the hole in the side panel of the ATV into the oil tank to fill. Newer models have a black fill cap / dipstick located near your left foot as you sit on the ATV. This new design is much easier to get at and requires no special funnels.
2000 LS transmission fill plug locationFluid is added at a fill plug on the tailshaft housing (upper right hand side). You'll need to use a suction gun to get fluid up to that location.
on 2000 3.1 it is on passengers side between engine and firewall, about 1 foot down..
The fill location is exactly the same as the location you check the fluid level. They are one in the same.
Fill plug is on shifting lever side, behind foot step. Need 14mm scket and small extension to remove. Fluid should be filled to the bottom of threads in the hole.
there is a drain bolt on the back side then fill it up to the full mark
