I had a 2002 Dodge Durango. I continuously had problems with my sensors. It is a manufacturer defect I believe. I hope you are not paying for each replacement. I say you DEMAND they find out what's causing this. I just traded my car in 3 months ago, & bought my new car while the old one was in repair for my sensors.

The oxygen sensors are screwed into the exhaust pipe near the catalytic converter.
It has four.It has four.
No, does not work.
Tires do not have oxygen sensors. They can have pressure sensors. The lack of pressure sensors would have no affect on fuel economy.
Not legally. If you do so, the engine will not run as well and will get lower mileage.
Absolutely. Not just on Subaru but every car built that has an oxygen sensor. And they all do.
The oxygen sensors on a 2003 Dakota Quad Cab 4.7 are located in the exhaust system. One is before the catalytic converter and the other is after.
